Settlement Support
Settlement is one of the most important factors in whether newcomers will stay in a new place or job or not. The Department of Labour has acknowledged this and created the Settlement Support Network for newcomers, migrants and refugees.

Settlement Support New Zealand has established a National network of 19 local Settlement Support initiatives around New Zealand The focus of these initiatives is to improve migrants and refugees access to appropriate information and responsive services that are available to the wider community. The Department of Labour is facilitating the establishment and co-ordination of the National network.

The Taranaki Employment Support Foundation Trust (TESFT) is the lead agency role in the Department of Labour's Settlement Support New Zealand for New Plymouth.
TESFT has already been involved with migrants and refugees in Taranaki region, the Settlement Support New Zealand Initiative has enabled the trust to develop comprehensive Settlement Networks in Taranaki to better connect migrants and refugees with local agencies and services that support their long term settlement and retention.
 
Settlement Support New Plymouth a clear point of contact for newcomers, migrants, refugees and their families who come to live in New Zealand and make New Plymouth their home. Their services help newcomers to overcome the challenges in a new country and successfully settle where they chose to live in Taranaki region. The service is situated within the New Plymouth District Council's Community Development Centre in Top Town Complex in the CBD of New Plymouth.
